The Data and AI Policy and Governance team is at the forefront of this change, ensuring responsible use of data and AI while safeguarding patient information and meeting regulatory requirements. As the Senior Director of AI Governance, you'll be a key player in this journey, engaging with senior leaders to advance drug development through AI and digital technologies. With your technical expertise in the fast-paced AI and digital health industry, you'll push boundaries ethically and safely, encouraging a culture of responsible AI innovation.

Accountabilities:


The Senior Director of AI Governance will spearhead the AI governance strategy, collaborating with R&D leaders to overcome barriers and promote AI-driven innovation in drug development. You'll oversee AI governance assessments, liaise with enterprise governance and cross-functional partners, and develop policies for responsible AI use. Your role will encompass transparency, FAIR data governance, accountability, bias mitigation, human-centricity, privacy, and security. Additionally, you'll stay abreast of global AI regulations, engage in industry forums, and establish practices that improve the value of patient data to drive healthcare advancements.

Essential Skills/Experience:


• Demonstrated proven experience working cross-functionally in leading application of digital health, device, data privacy, data and AI law compliance, and/or data science in the biotech/pharma industry
• Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in a relevant legal, scientific, technical, and/or business field 
• Highly collaborative with demonstrated experience influencing and communicating with cross-functional executive leaders 
• Experience developing a company digital, data and/or AI compliance position among evolving, unclear and/or conflicting regulations
• Experience implementing new R&D business processes
• Experience with risk management and audit readiness 
• Solid understanding of clinical trial regulations, data privacy, digital data and AI governance, and/or device law
• Demonstrated ability to engage in gap analysis, compliance, and/or technology discussions in biotech/pharma

Desirable Skills/Experience:


• Higher education in a Computer Science, Data Science, Compliance or Law field highly beneficial
• Energized by developing a culture of compliance and continuous learning environment  
• Proven track record to tackle the unknown with confidence
• Motivated by working with dedicated and diverse teams toward a common goal, often translating through communication gaps
• Established network in Oncology or Biopharma R&D, AZ Data Offices, and/or Compliance
